Yes, wonderful idea. (We just did a ceremony for him after our Monday night sitting.)
Everyone everywhere can also chant for him. Here is the chant, called the ENMEI JUKKU KANNON GYO. Every translation, like every word, is approximate. And thus beautiful and open. Just chanting is really best, although here's yet another translation:

KANZEON! At one with the Buddha
Related to all Buddhas in cause & effect.
And to Buddha, Dharma and Sangha.
Joyful, pure, eternal being!
Morning mind is Kanzeon
Evening mind is Kanzeon
This very moment arises from Mind
This very moment is not separate from mind.

Je pense souvent à ce monsieur, ces derniers jours. J'avais beaucoup apprécié ses vidéos sur internet (sa voix calme, confiante) et son livre "The still point", simple et encourageant pour tous ceux qui commencent.
J'aurai son visage dans la tete au moment des prosternations, à partir de demain matin.
